Black History Month,
Walden University is bringing together its community of
students, alumni, faculty and staff to acknowledge their
appreciation of the contributions made by remarkable African
Americans. In various activities throughout February, members of the
Walden community will share their stories and insights about African
Americans who have influenced or inspired their education, research,
careers or
social change initiatives.
"This year, Walden
commemorates Black History Month by focusing on the achievements of
many generations of African Americans who inspire us to make a
difference," said
Dr. Cynthia Baum, president of Walden. "In addition to
recognizing these important figures and sharing their impact with
the Walden community, we aspire to demonstrate our ongoing
commitment to creating positive social change in our communities,
nation and world."
The general public is
invited to join the Walden community for this commemorative

School of Public Policy and Administration, presenting
Johnnie Mae Gibson, highest ranking African-American female
agent in the FBI during her tenure.
Dr. Phyllis

School of Nursing, presenting Dr. Bertha Davis, former
Dean of Hampton University School of Nursing.
Dr. Sean Stanley,
Walden Doctor of Business Administration (D.B.A.) graduate,
School of Management, presenting Dr. Benjamin S. Carson,
neurosurgeon, philanthropist and author.
