MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES NOMINATED IN TWO CATEGORIES  IN 26TH ANNUAL MIDSOUTH REGIONAL EMMY AWARDS

Memphis, Tennessee – The Nashville/Midsouth Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) announced that the Memphis Grizzlies have been nominated in two categories in the 26th Annual Midsouth Emmy® Awards.

After earning his first Midsouth Regional Emmy® victory last year in the category of best Sports Programs/Series, the Grizzlies’ Pat Stage has been nominated for best Editor/Short Form, marking his ninth nomination and the broadcast department’s 11th nomination overall.

SportSouth’s Hammond Reynolds, Rohan Backfisch, Tom Huet and Grizzlies Senior Vice President of Broadcasting Randy Stephens were also nominated in the category of Sports Event/Game-Live for their work on the broadcast of Memphis’ home win over the Sacramento Kings on April 8, 2011, which clinched the Grizzlies’ first postseason berth since 2006.  The Grizzlies went on to earn the first seven postseason wins in team history over a 13-game playoff run and post a 5-1 record in front of six consecutive sell-out crowds at FedExForum.

“We are very grateful for the nominations, as we strive to provide Grizzlies fans with the best possible product, whether they are watching live at FedExForum or on television on SportSouth,” Stephens said.  “As the city of Memphis and the rest of the Midsouth started to Believe in the Grizzlies, it was our goal to capture the atmosphere and energy of the team’s incredible run through the NBA Playoffs.”

The 26th Annual Midsouth Emmy® Awards will be held on March 17, 2012 at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville.  This year’s 700 entries resulted in 65 nominations for television stations, production companies and independent producers.  The ballots, tabulated by Jennifer Lane of Decosimo Vaden, were judged by the Chicago/Midwest Chapter, the Mid-America Chapter based in St. Louis, the Mid-Atlantic Chapter based in Philadelphia, and the New York Chapter.
