Memphis Becomes Blue and Gold to Rally for Grizzlies Win

Elvis' home, Graceland, is bathed in blue and gold as Memphis rallies behind Grizzlies.

GRIZZLIES AND CITY OF MEMPHIS CELEBRATE PLAYOFF RUN

BY “PAINTING THE TOWN BLUE AND GOLD”

Memphis, Tennessee – It’s time to Believe, Memphis! The Grizzlies are back in the Playoffs for the second consecutive year, and the City of Memphis is joining its team in “painting the town blue and gold.” Many local landmarks will support the Grizzlies in unique ways throughout the postseason, while the Grizzlies will be all around the community as Grizz fever spreads in the Bluff City.

Elvis Presley’s Graceland will celebrate the Grizzlies and their success in reaching the 2012 NBA Playoffs by illuminating the exterior of the famous Memphis landmark in Beale Street Blue and Grizzlies Gold starting Sunday, April 29 throughout the team’s NBA Playoff run.  Attached is a photo of the brightened mansion.

The First Tennessee Bank building in downtown Memphis will do its part by spelling out “Go Grizz” on the exterior of the iconic skyscraper in the heart of the city. At the Memphis Zoo, giant gold headbands will be worn by the “Avenue of Animals” concrete statues outside the main gates.  Starting Sunday, April 29, the Pink Palace Museum will support the Grizzlies’ remarkable season with the second annual “Blue-ing of the Polar Bear” inside the museum.

While Memphis institutions are celebrating the Grizzlies’ run in the 2012 Playoffs, fans are also encouraged to join in and support Grizz Nation through the “Show Your Colors” contest.  As part of the “Show Your Colors” photo contest, fans can present their best Beale Street Blue and Grizzlies Gold attire by submitting photos on Grizzlies.com to share with all Grizzlies fans.  Memphis-area fans who share photos will be eligible to win a pair of tickets to a Grizzlies home playoff game.  Photos can be submitted at Grizzlies.com, on the Grizzlies Facebook page via the “Show Your Colors” tab or on Twitter by tweeting a photo along with one of the following hashtags: #GrizzNation or #BelieveMemphis.

Grizzlies fans looking to cheer the team on as it hits the road to play its first two postseason games should stay tuned for further announcements regarding Playoff Watch Parties.
