Award-winning Sportscaster Greg Gaston to Host Sports Files on WKNO

MEMPHIS, TN - Emmy and Edward R. Murrow Award-Winning sportscaster Greg Gaston is joining the team at WKNO as the new host of Sports Files. His first show aired Friday, September 28, 2012 at 7:30 p.m., in the show’s new Friday evening timeslot which began September 21. His first guest was University of Memphis Athletic Director Tom Bowen.

Greg has been involved in Memphis sports for more than 15 years on television and as the current radio co-host on Sports 56 Middays on WHBQ-AM 560 and FM 87.7. Greg has called University of Memphis Tigers football and basketball games. In addition, he has been behind the microphone for everything from Boxing and MMA Matches to Baseball and Tennis, including games on ESPN, CSS, Comcast and FSN.


“I am pleased to be returning to Memphis television and extremely excited about hosting Sports Files on WKNO,” said Gaston. “This show gives me the opportunity to tackle some of the more important sports issues in a completely different forum. I am looking forward to conversing with the movers and shakers in Mid-South Sports and also exploring ‘off the beaten path’ topics.”

Sports Files with Greg Gaston will continue to highlight the Memphis Grizzlies and the University of Memphis Tigers football and basketball teams, but will also tell stories from the wide variety of sports in the Mid-South, appealing to sports fans and WKNO viewers who enjoy good stories.


Because Sports Files is very topical, information about the show’s guests and focus may not be available until close to airdate. For updates, viewers can follow WKNO’s Facebook page (WKNOTV) and Twitter feed (@WKNO_TV).


In addition to Friday evening at 7:30, Sports Files with Greg Gaston will repeat the following morning at 12:30 and then on Saturdays at 6:00 p.m. on WKNO. It will also air Saturdays at 4:00 p.m. on WKNO2 (available over the air on Channel 10.2 and on Comcast Digital Cable Channel 910). Sports Files can also be viewed online at wkno.org.
